Gall Cadeau- vinder

Gall & Gall wanted to become the number one store for drink-related gifts. But their current gift finder tool was hard to find, not personal, and felt like a boring questionnaire.

My task was to redesign the gift finder into a fun, easy-to-use tool that helps customers quickly find the perfect gift based on the occasion and the person they are buying for. The goal was to reduce stress and make customers feel more confident and happy with their choice.

When I started working on this project, I quickly noticed that the gift finder on Gall & Gall’s website wasn’t doing its job. It was supposed to help people find the perfect gift, but instead, it made things more difficult.

Many users couldn’t even find the tool on the website. And when they did, it felt more like filling in a form than getting real help. It asked a few basic questions, but the results didn’t feel personal or useful. People were left feeling confused or unsure about what to choose.

Through user interviews and tests, I learned that customers often felt overwhelmed, especially when buying a gift for someone else. They wanted help. Not just a list of products, but real guidance that made them feel confident in their decision. They wanted a tool that understood the occasion, the person they were buying for, and even the emotions behind the gift.

That’s when I realised this wasn’t just a design problem. It was about the whole experience. The tool needed to feel more like a conversation than a questionnaire. It needed to be friendly, personal, and easy to use. It had to help people make meaningful choices without stress.

To take on this challenge, I used the Design Thinking process. I listened carefully to users, explored different creative ideas, built and tested prototypes, and improved the design step by step.

In the end, this challenge was not just about fixing a tool. It was about creating something that makes gift-giving feel simple, joyful, and thoughtful again.

After a lot of research, testing, and creative thinking, I was able to turn the gift finder into something much more useful and personal. The final concept focused on helping users find the right gift quickly, while also making the experience feel friendly and emotionally meaningful.

The final result is a redesigned gift finder that offers a smoother, more personal experience for every type of user. Whether someone is looking for a special gift with care and attention, or just needs a quick recommendation, the tool adapts to their needs.

The new version of the gift finder includes two main search paths. The Step-by-Step Search allows users to explore carefully by answering simple questions about the occasion, the recipient's taste, preferred drink types, budget, and extra options like gift wrapping. This guided approach helps people find gifts that truly match the moment and feel meaningful.

The second option is the Quick Search, where users can simply describe what they are looking for in one sentence. The system then quickly suggests gifts that match their request. This saves time and still delivers highly relevant, personalized results.

Both methods were tested with real users in different situations. The feedback showed that people felt more confident in their choices and experienced less stress while searching for a gift. The tool helped them find something that felt thoughtful and personal, even when they were short on time.

What makes this gift finder successful is its flexibility and human-centered design. It doesn’t just offer products — it supports emotions, relationships, and the small but important act of giving something that matters.

This solution brings together functionality and feeling, making Gall & Gall not only a place to buy drinks, but also a destination for meaningful gifts.
